THE WAENDEL WALKERS CLUB
The British Walking
Federation (BWF)
is a member of the International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV). The
Waendel Walkers Club was formed in 1981 and became the first club to join the
BWF (IVV). We are the most active club
in the Federation. All walks are registered with the BWF(IVV) and on completing
an event you can claim a stamp towards the IVV award scheme. For further information e-mail our IVV Representative of the Club.
Our base is at The British
Rail Sports and Social Club, Broad Green Wellingborough. On all our walks we
provide a detailed route description so that you can walk at your own pace on
your own or with a group. You can meet
new people and improve your fitness as well as enjoying the countryside in all
seasons and weather.
The Club organises a Winter
and Summer series of walks of 10 or 20 kms on alternate Sunday mornings
throughout the year starting at 10 a.m. We also organise a series of Wednesday
evening walks in the Summer of 10 kms starting at 6 p.m. Each of these walks cost 50p to enter. A
portion of the walk fees is donated to charity each year.
We run four COACH TRIPS
a year in March, June, September and December to the seaside or countryside,
for sightseeing or walking.
We have a three distance SPECIAL
EVENTS a year in April from Wilbarston of 40 kms, 25 kms and 12 kms
approximately to which walkers come from all over the country as well as from
abroad.
We have two walks over CHRISTMAS
AND NEW YEAR where you can walk off the Christmas pudding and walk in the
New Year.
We have two social events
a year in April and October that are presentation evenings and a Christmas Draw
night in December.
