A friendly final reminder for those of you who have yet to renew their annual subscriptions (which were due at the beginning of the year) to please do so as soon as possibe - its still only £4 for the whole year. If you do not intend to remain a member of the club please let us know out of courtesy by email so we can be aware that you have chosen to leave rather than just lapsed or forgotten to renew.

Our next Sunday event will be our first coach trip of 2019 which will take place on April 7th and the booking list is now open and bookings can be made from the website or Facebook event page, or preferably by contacting John or Alison Percival directly. There are now just nine seats unbooked so please let us know if you wish to join us - a good day out will be had I can assure you. Subject to final confirmation the routes will end at Marlborough in Wiltshire. Please not this is three weeks after the last series walk, NOT the usual two weeks due to a number of factors. Note also that after the coach trip the following Sunday event will be the following week and will be our annual Valley and Views event as outlined below.

As a reminder, the 19th annual Valley and Views event will take place on Sunday 14th April from Wilbarston Village Hall as usual. All last year's routes have been reviewed and the 26k and 42k routes are totally new. More details can be found in the Special Club Events section of this website and in order to save time on the day a pre-registration form can be downloded from there or from this link.

The Summer Wednesday evening season has now been finalised and all details are now on the appropriate page of this website along with a downloadable schedule. The first event talkes place on Wednesday 10th April and will be based at the Royal Oak in Cogenhoe at around 18.00.

One of the recipients of our charitable donation in the past has been Cransley Hospice. They are organising a short lantern-lit one-mile walk on 24th March from Stanwick Lakes and this may be of interest to anyone who has lost someone and wants to take time to reflect. Full details can be found at their website at www.cransleyhospice.org.uk and also on the poster which can be viewed and downloaded from here. The event starts at 17.00 and entry is by ticket in advance (£10, £5 for children) which includes a lantern, and ticket holders get free parking. Under 3 year olds enter free but this does not include a lantern

Many of you will be aware that the British Walking Federation organised an Armistice Challenge last year - including a number of Permanent Trails - and many of us even participated in this challenge. Your club actually contributed two such trails (from Middleton Cheney and Towcester). While the challenge has now ended we have agreed to continue to maintain and support these two trails for at least the whole of 2019 and they are still available from this website (or the BWF website).

As you may know, your committee meets about once every six weeks and there may be issues that you as members wish us to raise and discuss at these meetings. Any such matters can be notified to us by email by following  this link no less than 24 hours before the meeting. A schedule of meetings has been added to the "your club committee" page on this website. These meetings remain closed however anyone who is considering joining the committee will be welcome to come along to one of our meetings before making their decision. The next meeting will take place on Thursday 21st March 2019.

If you would like to get more involved in your club, we are always looking for additional walk co-ordinators - there are just seven of us on the committee and almost 40 walking events every year - and whilst most committee members will organise and run up to three events each year we still need non-committee members to organise the occasional event. If you have never organised a walk before and would like to, one of us will "buddy up" with you to help plan and run the event and we have a comprehensive "beginners guide" covering everything from choosing your venue through to details of the administration and what makes a good walk description. Why not give it a go - I promise you'll enjoy it. Our 2019 schedules are complete but it is not too soon to think about the 2020 schedule, so if you would like a no obligation chat about what is involved please contact me through the website and I will call you back.

Lapel Badges. Club lapel badges are now available from Andrew Whitehead or through this website or the Facebook page. They will also be available at walk desks and will cost £3. Please buy one and wear it on your lapel to support your club.  Of course Andrew can provide other club merchandise including polo shirts, sweat shirts, fleeces and baseball caps.
