Latest News - Updated Thursday 15th June 2017

Our next Sunday walk will be our second coach trip of the year which will take place on Sunday 25th June. The booking list is almost full with just a couple of seats still available, but as usual you can book a seat by messaging us through this website or the Facebook page, or by contacting John or Alison Percival directly. As usual the coach will depart at 08.00 from the Castle Way lay-by in Wellingborough. Ample free public parking is available behind the Castle Theatre.  If you have booked and are now unable to come for whatever reason PLEASE let John or Alison know as soon as possible as we have a number of walkers who would like to join us.

The next summer evening walk will take place on Wednesday 28th June and will be based out of the Sun in Felmersham, by the Great Ouse north of Bedford. The event officially starts at 18.00 but please do not arrive before 17.30 as there will be no start desk set up and the pub may well not be ready for you either.  Please be aware that there is NO parking available at the pub, but at the suggestion of the landlord please park in either Marriotts Close or along Church End.  Please park considerately and remember that locals wil also need to park. The locations of these roads is shown on the map below:

Newsflash - the venue for the Sunday walk on July 9th marked on the walk cards as TBA has now been confirmed as being the Samuel Pepys at Slipton. The Sunday schedule and downloadable venue list on this website have been updated accordingly.

On a point of information and to avoid any confusion, the George in Fenstanton, from where we will walk on 23rd July had closed but has now reopened under the new name of the Duchess.  This website and the downloadable Sunday schedule have been updated to this effect.  The planned walk in July will of course still take place.

After having to cancel the annual pilgrimage to Belgium in 2017 to participate in the Clermont Walking Festival due to non-availability of Ferries I am pleased to confirm that the club will be participating again in 2018. For your diaries, the dates are Friday 9th Feb 2018 (leaving Castle Way in Wellingborough around 19.00) returning to Wellingborough by mid evening on Monday 12th February 2018. More details and a downloadable registration form will be provided in the events section of this site in due course.

If you would like to get more involved in your club, we are always looking for additional walk co-ordinators - there are eight of us on the committee and almost 40 walking events every year - and whilst most committee members will organise and run up to three events each year we still need non-committee members to organise the occasional event. If you have never organised a walk before, one of us will "buddy up" with you to help plan and run the event and we have a comprehensive "beginners guide" covering everything from choosing your venue through to details of the administration and what makes a good walk description. Why not give it a go - you'll enjoy it. If you would like a no obligation chat about what is involved please contact me through the website and I will call you back.

Lapel Badges. Club lapel badges are now available from Andrew Whitehead or through this website or the Facebook page. They will also be available at walk desks and will cost £3. Please buy one and wear it on your lapel to support your club.  Of course Andrew can provide other club branded merchandise as well such as polo shirts, sweaat shirts, fleeces and baseball caps. See the Club Merchandise section of this site for prices and availability.
