THE WAENDEL WALKERS CLUB

VALLEY AND VIEWS

SUNDAY 25th APRIL 2010

The tenth Valley and Views takes place on Sunday 25th April 2010.  There will again be three distances of 42, 26 and 10 kms following footpaths and bridleways with short distances on quiet country roads.  A full route description will be provided for each route.  The walk follows the Welland Valley with some great views across Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.  The long route is recognised as a demanding walk whilst the short route is suitable for anyone, but not for pushchairs.  Entrants come from all over Britain and the continent and there is always a good friendly atmosphere at the Village Hall which has full facilities and even a bar.  An all day breakfast is available for a small charge.

There are checkpoints on the long and middle routes, one of which provides hot drinks and sandwiches.

Starting times are 7.30 to 9 a.m. for the longest route, 7.30 to 11 a.m. for the middle route and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the short route.  The cost is £1.00 for all entrants on the short route and £3.50 for the long and middle, with a £1.00 reduction for Waendel Walkers Club members.  There is no charge for 5 year-olds and under; 16 year-olds and under pay £2.00 for the long and middle routes.

You can enter on the day – just turn up, register, collect a route description and go.  Remember there is no such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing.  If the weather is sunny, remember the hat, drink and sun screen.  If wet bring the waterproofs and umbrella!  Wear suitable shoes, trainers or boots.  If bringing the dog, remember to keep under control and on a lead when walking through the countryside, particularly amongst livestock.
